DENTAL BRIDGES

ENHANCING SMILES AND FUNCTIONALITY

Dental bridges are a time-tested solution for replacing missing teeth, offering both aesthetic and functional benefits. Essentially, a dental bridge fills the gap created by one or more missing teeth with artificial teeth, supported by natural teeth or implants on either side. This not only restores the appearance of a full smile but also distributes bite forces properly and prevents remaining teeth from drifting out of position.

THE PROCEDURE

The typical procedure for getting a dental bridge involves several steps. Initially, the abutment teeth (the teeth on either side of the gap) are prepared, which may include reshaping these teeth to properly fit the bridge. Next, impressions of the teeth are taken, which serve as a model from which the bridge, pontic (the artificial tooth), and crowns (which will be placed over the abutment teeth) are made. Temporary bridges may be fitted to protect the exposed teeth and gums while the permanent bridge is being manufactured. Once ready, the temporary bridge is removed, and the new bridge is adjusted as needed to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. Follow-up visits may be necessary to check and adjust the fit of the bridge and the bite to ensure long-term comfort and functionality.
